The Adaptation Plan will focus on the impacts that a changing climate will have on the municipality, and to identify actions stakeholders can take to minimize these impacts. The Adaptation Plan is the third of three municipal plan that work together to address emissions and climate change adaptation. The first step was the completion of our Official Community Plan in 2008, which committed Saanich to support provincial climate action initiatives, to estable an action plan, and supported the Saanich Carbon Neutral Plan. Second, the Climate Action Plan pulls together current and proposed community mitigation initiatives into a cohesive document that lays the foundation for community and municipal climate action to 2020 and beyond. This plan is currently in draft form and will be available for public review in November, 2009. Finally, the Adaptation Plan will provide actions for residents, business and municipal operations to take in preparation of the coming climate change impacts.
