About the Park
Knockan Hill has been popular with many generations of local families as a picnic spot, viewpoint, playground, or destination for school outings, and a place for bird-watching or enjoying the solitude of nature.
Knockan Hill and its name are subjects of historic mystery involving legend and language. For centuries Songhees people harvested camas in what is now Knockan Hill Park.
To protect the park please remember:
- keep to the paths to preserve the fragile ecosystem
- picking of wildflowers, mushrooms or other vegetation is prohibited
- cycling in the park is discouraged due to fragile vegetation (e.g.. mosses) and use of trails by pedestrians
- keep dogs under control and clean up after them
- carry out any litter
