Report Street or Traffic Light
Problems

Saanich has over 8,300 street lights of various types and wattages. Nearly ever
light in Saanich has a photo control switch that tells it to turn on at night and go off
during the day. When our lights fail to light up, we rely on our staff and the public to
advise us that this happened.
Here are a few things to look for:
- Light is out; this means the lamp, photo control or the fixture itself has failed.
- Light is going on and off; this is called cycling. This occurs when the lamp is at the
end of it's service rating or life.
- Light is staying on during the day; This means the photo control has failed. When they
stop working correctly, they fail in the on position.
In all these cases, we rely on the public to call in and
advise us that the light has failed to operate correctly.
You can report the problem to our Public Works Department
by phoning 250-475-5437, or you can use the
form
below to report the location and problem.
| Additional details may help us. Given the address of problem, is the streetlight in front of, across from, or beside this address? If the streetlight is at an intersection, which corner (NW, E, S, etc.), or is it actually on one of the two intersecting streets, or perhaps the only one at the intersection? If you are aware of a recent problem or repair of the same streetlight please tell us. |
If you would like to request that a streetlight be installed on
your street, please refer to the section on Local
Improvements.
