RECREATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE CANADA (RInC) PROGRAM

LAKE HILL LAWN BOWLING CLUBHOUSE

We are pleased to announce that Saanich Parks, together with Leier Construction Limited, has begun construction of the new building.  This project is made possible by funding from the District of Saanich, Saanich Parks, the Lake Hill Lawn Bowling Club, the BC Gaming Commission, and private donations. BAXTER PARK - TREES FOR TOMORROW

In March 2009, the District of Saanich received a grant of $31,000 from the Ministry of Community and Rural Development through the Trees for Tomorrow and BC150 Grove programs to purchase 150 native trees and more than 1900 native shrubs to plant as demonstration forests in Baxter Park.  Read more about this project.

CADBORO-GYRO PARK

Saanich Parks is seeking public input into the Cadboro-Gyro Park Masterplan. The Masterplan will provide a framework for which the District of Saanich can base planning, design and management decisions for the park in the future.  Please give us your thoughts about Cadboro-Gyro Park by taking our online survey.  

GARLIC MUSTARD

The District of Saanich is asking the public for assistance in identifying and eradicating a particularly nasty invasive plant.   Please see the recent media release and information brochure on Garlic Mustard.

WEEDS

Did you know that the definition of a "weed" is "an unwanted plant"?

Presently, we are experiencing a bumper crop of "unwanted" dandelions.  Dandelions are, however, considered a 'nuisance' weed, not a 'noxious weed'. To control these weeds we focus on mechanical control and encourage healthy turf that will, hopefully, out compete the weeds. Read more...
