Urban Forest Strategy

Since April of this year we have been working with the community to seek public input on the development of an Urban Forest Strategy for Saanich. We are nearing the conclusion of this project and based on the comments received we have completed the Urban Forest Strategy Draft.
The Urban Forest Strategy is one of the tools that Council, the community and staff will be able to use in conjunction with the Sustainable Saanich Official Community Plan 2008 (OCP), Strategic Plan 2009, other city bylaws, plans and policies. It provides a long–term plan for achieving a sustainable urban forest in Saanich.

Copies of the draft Urban Forest Strategy will be available at all Recreation facilities (Cedar Hill Rec, Pearkes, Saanich Commonwealth, Gordon Head Rec, Les Passmore Seniors Centre), Libraries (Nellie McClung, Emily Carr, Pearkes), Municipal Hall front counter and Saanich Parks Yard Administrative Office at 1040 Mackenzie Ave. Copies of the draft can also be obtained at the Parks office for a fee.
