RiverStone Project
The pebble mosaics that mark the start of the of the pathway that follows the Colquitz River, were created
by artists in the Garth Homer Society ArtWorks Program during a workshop led by River Song artists, Paula
Jardine and Carolyn Knight. Using a pebble mosaic technique to create stepping-stones, this element of the
project provides a physical legacy of the connection of the community to the river. The ArtWorks
RiverStones Workshop was made possible through a 2008 Community Matching Grant from the District of
Saanich.
RiverSong: Sing the Salmon Home is a part of the larger project “RiverSong: Celebrating Life
Along the Colquitz”. The Riversong project is about creating/reinforcing arts and cultural
activities that support community stewardship and link us to the natural environment and to each other.
Riversong: Sing the Salmon Home is supported by B.C. Arts Council, Saanich Legacy Foundation,
Friends of Cuthbert Holmes Park, Colquitz Middle School Parent Advisory Committee, Mount View Colquitz
Community Association and Saanich Parks and Recreation.
