Native Plants of Saanich Poster

natural saanich native plant poster Environmental Services with the District of Saanich produced a colour poster entitled " Natural Saanich: Native Plants and their Ecosytems". The third in a series, it highlights our natural heritage in Saanich. The previous two posters in this series feature architectural heritage and rural heritage.

"We wanted to help people see how attractive some of our local native plants are" says Adriane Pollard, Manager of Environmental Services. "It will also help residents who would like to start Naturescaping their properties by featuring individual plants as part of larger ecosystems. Sometimes all people have left on their property are mature native trees and they would like to restore the flowers and shrubs that would have naturally been found growing with these trees."

The five ecosystems featured in the poster are:

  • Garry oak woodland
  • Douglas fir forest
  • Wetland
  • Riparian
  • Coastal shoreline
