The Garry Oak Restoration Project (GORP) is a progressive public education program designed
to educate Saanich residents about the value and sensitivity of Garry oak ecocsystems. Following a "living laboratory" approach,
selected Garry Oak ecosystems on land owned
by the Municipality of Saanich are maintained as restoration demonstration sites. The sites have been chosen for their visibility and accessiblity. It is GORP's goal to involve as many community and school groups as possible.

The GORP has 9 designated sites in Saanich.

The 9 Restoration Sites in Saanich Parks:
  • Feltham
  • Playfair Park
  • Mount Tolmie
  • Mount Douglas Summit
  • Little Mount Douglas
  • Mahon Brook
  • Wetherby Park
  • Chatterton Hill Park
  • Camas Park

Supporting agencies and organizations in this project include the District of Saanich, Georgia Basin Ecosystem Initiative, University of Victoria, Garry Oak Meadow Preservation Society (GOMPS).
