The District of Saanich is pleased to introduce the 2007 Youth Recognition Awards. These awards
recognize and celebrate Saanich youth between the ages of 11 and 19 years, for noteworthy
achievements in the face of adversity, outstanding friendship, and contributions to the community.
Cash and certificates will be awarded in 3 categories
"YOUNG N' UNSUNG"AWARD
Do you know a young and unsung hero in your community who deserves to be nominated
for this year’s Saanich Youth Recognitions awards? The Young n’ Unsung award is to
recognize those young heroes in our community who have made a difference in big and
small ways.
"BIG CHANGE" AWARD
Nominate a young person in your community who has made a big change for the good in
their life. Examples could include making healthier choices, turning from an at risk
behavior …do you know someone who has made a big change….nominate them!!!
"FRIENDSHIP" AWARD
Nominate a great friend! Have you seen friendship in action? Have you experienced true
friendship? In Saanich we want to award young people who have practiced true friendship,
young people who deserve to be recognized for going out of their way to be a friend.
Please consider nominating deserving youth for these awards.
PROCESS and ELIGIBILITY FOR NOMINATION
Individual and group Nominees should be residents of Saanich, between the ages of 11-19 and can
be nominated by anyone. Complete the youth award application and drop it off at any Saanich Recreation
Centre or fax to 475 5411. Nominations can be mailed to:

SELECTION PROCESS
From the list of nominees, a committee comprised of youth representatives and municipal staff shall make the final selection of award winners.

A certificate of achievement and recognition in the Saanich News.
