Saanich Parks and Recreation is pleased to invite you to participate in the Saanich Summer Sunfest this coming July and August.
Our goal in co-coordinating Sunfest is to encourage community participation in a series of fun and affordable community events that celebrate the beauty, diversity, and quality of life here in Saanich.
Since its inception in 1991, Sunfest has grown in both size and popularity and is now recognized as the number one summer event series in Saanich. You may be familiar with many of our on-going Sunfest events like Gorge On Art, Strawberry Festival, the Music in the Park series and Gorge Canada Day Picnic. In our ongoing efforts to make Sunfest even bigger and better each year, we are looking for new participants to join the celebration. Your organization may fit into the event series in any one of the following ways:
How do you fit into Sunfest?
- You have an existing summer event during the Sunfest dates;
- You have an event close to Sunfest dates that you might wish to reschedule in order to be Sunfest participants;
- You would like to create a new Sunfest event;
- You would like to partner with an existing or new partner to run an event;
- You have previously participated in Sunfest and would like to continue in 2010.
If you are interested in participating in the Saanich Summer Sunfest, please provide us with the following information:
- A completed Sunfest Application Form
- An outline of any event highlights that could be used for promotional purposes and/or any pictures from previous events that we could use.
What are you required to do?
- Promote your event as a Sunfest event by distributing Sunfest promotional materials.
- Include the Sunfest logo on all your event promotional materials.
- Notify the Special Events Programmer of any changes or cancellations as early as possible.
- Allow a Sunfest activity/promotional booth at your event.*
*May not be available to all Sunfest events.
What are the benefits of being a Sunfest event?
Sunfest events are advertised to thousands of residents in the Greater Victoria area through a variety of local media including:
- The Saanich Active Living Guide distributed to 35,000 households (55,000 copies)
- A 16 page insert in the Saanich News distributed to 35,000 households
- A full colour Sunfest rack card.
- Events are posted in the Community Calendar on the Saanich website
