The
Subdivision Bylaw, as provided by the Local Government
Act, regulates standards for highways, sidewalks, boulevards,
and the installation of street lighting and underground
wiring. The municipality may require that a subdivision
is provided with water distribution, sewage collection,
and storm drainage. In addition, the bylaw may require that
a proposed subdivision shall be suited to the configuration
of the land being subdivided and the use intended, and shall
not make impracticable the future subdivision of the land
within the proposed subdivision or adjacent land.
The subdivision Approving Officer is appointed by Council
and has the responsibility to consider subdivisions in accordance
with a variety of policies, bylaws, and statutes including
the Local Government Act, the Land Title Act,
and the Subdivision Bylaw.
