Sewers and Storm Drain Connection

If you want a new 100 mm Sanitary Sewer Connection, 100 mm Storm Drain Connection, or upgrade your existing water service, you need to contact one of our employees in Development Services 250-475-5570. They can give you the costs, and if you decide that you need a new service, you would be asked to come into the office, pay the fee(s) and identify the location of the new service(s). Once the fee has been paid the work is usually done within three to four weeks. This time frame does vary depending on time of year and availability of Municipal Crews.

There are some additional charges that may be applicable when having a new 100 mm Sanitary Sewer connection and/or 100 mm Storm Drain connection installed. They are:

1. If Municipal Crews encounter rock when installing the connection(s), you will be charged $80.00 per cubic meter of rock. You will be billed the actual cost at a later date.

2. If the connection(s) that is being installed is on a collector road, major road, or arterial highway, an additional $1,000.00 will be charged.

3. If the connection(s) that is being installed has a depth greater than 2 meters, an additional $100.00 per lineal meter will be charged.

If you are enquiring about services and costs of a property that has the potential for subdivision or re-development, you would contact one of our employees in Development Services. It is recommended that you come into our office to discuss your enquiries. Please note, that every application is different, therefore, we cannot give a set cost to service a property that has subdivision or re-development potential.

You might want to review the Subdivision Bylaw (PDF 52KB). This bylaw regulates land, area, shape, dimensions, locations, design, construction, works and services "in order to promote orderly, efficient, economical and aesthetically pleasing development, to preserve the established amenities of the Municipality, and to ensure that subdivisions are suited to the use to which they are intended.". The Subdivision Bylaw is also available from the Planning Department at Saanich Municipal Hall for $5.00 plus GST.

Also, you may purchase our Engineering Specifications for $10.00 plus GST & PST (available from Development Services).
